      The first Conference of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology, entitled: "Talking in the field of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology" was held On Wednesday, the eleventh of November 2009 in / Mahdi Albasosy hall, in Children's Hospital in the presence of many of the members of the faculty of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology of various Egyptian universities as speakers and chairpersons of committees of the Conference with the participation of forensic doctors of the Ministry of Justice and some Arab brothers.

 

Clinical Toxicology Skill Lab

 
  • The staff members of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology Department has been teaching fourth-year students, Faculty of Medicine the nasogastric tube insertion and gastric decontamination skill since 19/12/2010 in the Ground Floor, Block D (faculty of pharmacy building).
  • The course comprises a lecture and two stations for the practical part with acute poisoning simulation training.
  • Intended Learning Outcomes of the Course (ILOs):
    • Intellectual skills:
      By the end of the course, the student will be able to recognize:
      • The aim of gastric lavage in toxicology.
      • Indications and contraindication of gastric lavage.
      • Difficulties that may occur during the procedure of gastric lavage.
      • Precautions needed during the procedure.
      • Complications that may occur during nasogastric intubation or gastric lavage procedure.
      • Role of activated charcoal and sorbitol in GIT decontaminations.
    • Practical skills:
      By the end of the course, the student will be able to perform:
      • Technique of nasogastric tube insertion.
      • Gastric lavage procedure.
